How much fresh air does a space actually need? 🤔
It’s not simply a percentage of the room volume.
For many non-residential spaces, outdoor airflow is determined based on occupancy + floor area, using the ASHRAE 62.1 ventilation approach.
The basic equation is:
Vbz = Rp × Pz + Ra × Az
Where:
🔹 Rp = Outdoor airflow required per person
🔹 Pz = Zone population
🔹 Ra = Outdoor airflow required per unit area
🔹 Az = Zone floor area
