Variable Air Volume (VAV) System Design
A variable air volume (VAV) system is a form of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. In contrast to constant air volume (CAV) systems, which provide a constant airflow at a varied temperature, variable air volume (VAV) systems alter the airflow at a constant temperature.
VAV systems provide several advantages over constant-volume systems, including more precise temperature control, less compressor wear, lower energy consumption by system fans, less fan noise, and additional passive dehumidification.
